Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (CPI)
Commission made up of parliamentarians (deputies, senators, members of the Legislative Power) that aims to examine some specific topics of interest to the nation. Topics discussed by CPIs may be, for example, suspected corruption in the sale of a public company, suspected favoritism of companies in public procurement, suspected involvement of parliamentarians in organized crime, etc. CPIs examine, evaluate, and raise questions on these and other topics, but have no power to judge or arrest anyone; just get the facts straight. The result of these investigations is forwarded to the prosecutor, who must take the necessary legal action.
